Cooking classes in Ho Chi Minh City

A cooking class is a good way to spend a hot or rainy afternoon in Saigon. Classes differ in whether they start with a market visit, how many dishes you cook yourself and how big the group is. The offer is smaller than for street food, so there is less to sift through.

Frequently asked questions

What is Ho Chi Minh City best known for?

For being Vietnam’s biggest city, still called Saigon by many: colonial buildings around the cathedral and post office, markets, the War Remnants Museum, street food and the day trips to the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta.

How far are the Cu Chi Tunnels from the city?

Guides give about 40 to 70 km depending on the site, which means roughly 1.5 to 3 hours each way in traffic. Ben Dinh lies closer to the city than Ben Duoc.

Can I see the Mekong Delta in one day?

Yes, as far as My Tho and Ben Tre, which are roughly 1.5 to 2 hours away. Can Tho and the Cai Rang floating market are about 3.5 hours away, so they need a very early start or a 2-day tour.

Is there a beach in Ho Chi Minh City?

No, there is no sea beach in the city. The nearest seaside town on our list is Vung Tau, about two hours by road.

When is the best time to visit?

The dry season runs roughly from December to April; May to November is the rainy season, with frequent showers that can be heavy. Plan outdoor sights for the morning in the wet months.

How far is the airport from the centre?

Tan Son Nhat is only 7 to 8 km from the centre, but the ride can take 45 minutes or more at peak times. Our comparison lists tours, not transfers.

Do you run these tours?

No. We compare tours from the GetYourGuide partner feed and you book directly there, with the local operator. Prices and availability are theirs.
